Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Sets Record as the World’s Fastest Four-Door Car at Nürburgring
Xiaomi Auto’s SU7 Ultra prototype has made headlines by setting a record at the renowned Nürburgring track, achieving the fastest lap time for a four-door car at an impressive 6 minutes, 46.874 seconds. This accomplishment was not without challenges, as Xiaomi encountered multiple weather-related setbacks. Initial attempts on October 9 and 10 were thwarted by rain, but the team finally secured a successful run on October 28.
On that day, during a one-hour window, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype began its lap at 11:50 a.m., completing the circuit in just under seven minutes. Nürburgring officials later confirmed the record-breaking lap time, marking a significant milestone for Xiaomi Auto.
The SU7 Ultra is a high-performance variant of Xiaomi’s all-electric SU7 sedan, unveiled by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun in July. It features the company’s V8s motor, delivering a peak output of 1138 kW (1526 hp) and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 1.97 seconds, with a top speed exceeding 350 km/h. Weighing in at 1,900 kg, the vehicle utilizes a triple-motor setup for optimal speed and efficiency.
The record lap was driven by renowned racer David Pittard, who recently won the 2023 24 Hours of Nürburgring. Xiaomi plans to officially unveil the production model of the SU7 Ultra later today, providing full details and specifications. This production version is expected to retain the core structure and high-performance features of the prototype and is slated for launch in the first half of 2025.
