Crackdown on Tax Defaulters Owning Luxury Homes in Rawalpindi Division

The Excise and Taxation Department is gearing up to initiate a crackdown on owners of luxury homes in the Rawalpindi Division who are habitual tax defaulters.

A report indicates that this action will focus on individuals who own luxury houses measuring two kanals or more, including properties in cantonment areas within the Rawalpindi Division.

This tax enforcement is based on the Punjab Finance Act of 2014, which imposes a one-time tax on properties that span at least two kanals and 6,000 square feet of construction. Notably, this tax applies exclusively to houses built after the year 2000.

According to the Director of Excise and Taxation for the Rawalpindi Division, 95% of luxury home owners have fulfilled their tax obligations, leaving 5% who have yet to pay. The director warned that strict measures would be implemented against those who fail to settle their dues.

The report also mentioned that a list of tax defaulters has already been compiled, and actions will commence shortly.
