Intelligence Report Alleges Corruption Among Senior LESCO Officials
An intelligence agency report presented to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has unveiled serious corruption allegations against several senior officers within the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), as reported by 24News.
In response to the findings, the Prime Minister has directed the Interior Ministry to take appropriate action against the implicated individuals, with the Establishment Division assigned to monitor these officials.
Key Allegations
The report identifies misconduct involving officers in grades 18 through 21, detailing issues ranging from bribery to mismanagement in electricity distribution. Notably, high-ranking officials such as LESCO’s General Manager Technical, Amir Yasin, and Chief Engineer Material Management, Ramzan Butt, are specifically named in the allegations.
Ramzan Butt is accused of participating in bribery and electricity theft, while DG Implementation Rai Muhammad Asghar faces claims of manipulating recovery data.
Additionally, Deputy Manager Public Relations Rai Masood Kharal, who is closely linked to LESCO’s chief Shahid Haider, is accused of engaging in overbilling practices. Other officials implicated include Project Director GSC Zahid Qayyum Khokhar, Superintending Engineer Kasur Circle Nadeem Malik, and Manager Eastern Circle Muhammad Anwar Watto, among others.
