PTA Receives Over 17,000 Complaints Against Telecom Operators in September 2024
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) reported receiving a total of 17,324 complaints from telecom consumers regarding various telecom operators in September 2024. Impressively, 17,151 of these complaints—99 percent—were successfully resolved.
Official data indicated that the complaints were lodged against a range of telecom service providers, including cellular mobile operators (CMOs), Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), long-distance international (LDI) operators, wireless local loop (WLL) operators, and internet service providers (ISPs) throughout the month.
Given that cellular mobile subscribers make up a significant portion of the overall telecom subscriber base, it’s no surprise that most complaints were related to this segment. By the end of September, the total number of complaints against CMOs reached 16,726, with 16,571 (99.1 percent) of these addressed.
The breakdown of complaints against specific operators is as follows:
- Jazz: 6,506 complaints received, with 6,487 (99.7 percent) resolved.
- Telenor: 3,778 complaints, with 3,705 (98.1 percent) resolved.
- Zong: 4,365 complaints, with 4,331 (99.2 percent) resolved.
- Ufone: 2,051 complaints, with 2,024 (98.7 percent) resolved.
Additionally, the PTA received 154 complaints against basic telephony services, of which 145 were resolved, resulting in a resolution rate of 94.2 percent. There were also 433 complaints directed at ISPs, with 424 (97.9 percent) addressed.
