Christina Applegate Watches Friends for the First Time Despite Winning an Emmy for Her Role
Christina Applegate, who won an Emmy in 2003 for her portrayal of Rachel’s self-absorbed sister, Amy Green, has just started watching Friends for the first time.
In a recent episode of her podcast Messy, which she co-hosts with Jamie-Lynn Sigler, the 52-year-old actress revealed that she’s now binge-watching the iconic ’90s show as a way to manage her anxiety at night. Despite her two appearances on the series, Applegate had never watched the show until now.
“I’m watching Friends right now… I had never seen it before I was on it,” she confessed, humorously adding that she began watching “three days ago” and is already on season 8.
Applegate, who is a mother of one, praised the show, calling it “good” and joking about how she won an Emmy for her role without fully grasping the context of the series.
Nearly 30 years after Friends premiered on September 22, 1994, Applegate admitted she’s now “obsessed” with the show.
Her portrayal of Amy Green, the self-centered sibling of Jennifer Aniston’s Rachel Green, earned her an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series in the episode titled The One Where Rachel’s Sister Babysits.
Fast forward three decades, Applegate made a powerful appearance at the 2023 Emmys, receiving a standing ovation as she presented the award for Best Supporting Actress, all while courageously battling multiple sclerosis.
