Chief Minister Punjab Orders Report on Illegal Housing Societies
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed the Director-General (DG) of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to present a comprehensive report on illegal housing societies in Lahore within 15 days.
This directive was issued during a high-level meeting in Lahore focusing on the city’s development and infrastructure projects. Participants also discussed the possibility of imposing a complete ban on the sale of plot files in all housing societies.

The Chief Minister emphasized the need for stricter regulations and urged all concerned departments to collaborate on this initiative. Maryam Nawaz also addressed the issue of deteriorating road conditions in Lahore, instructing departments to finalize a plan for repairing cracks and potholes across the city’s road network.
In addition, the Chief Minister was briefed on the Lahore Shop and Drop Tramway project, which will span 8.2 kilometers. The tramway will connect key areas including Kalma Chowk, Main Boulevard, Hussain Chowk, M.M. Alam Road, and Mini Market. The project, designed to ease traffic congestion and provide efficient public transport, will feature five trams running simultaneously, with each tram making a two-minute stop at designated stations.
The meeting also discussed a special road project between Karim Block and the Motorway. Additionally, officials considered demolishing the aging Data Nagar Flyover due to its poor structural condition.

Prominent figures including Senator Pervez Rashid, Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Azma Zahid Bokhari, Vice Chairman of LDA Mian Margoob Ahmad, MPA Sania Ashiq, and other key government officials attended the meeting.
