This Will Be the First Flagship Smartphone With Snapdragon 8 Elite Processor
Rumors have been circulating about which company will be the first to release a smartphone powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. Initially, Xiaomi appeared to be leading the race with the Xiaomi 15 Pro, but recent leaks suggest that OnePlus is also vying for the title. However, Honor has officially entered the competition with an announcement confirming the launch date for its Magic 7 series smartphones.
Honor Confirms Magic 7 Series Launch
Honor shared a post on Weibo, revealing plans for two key events in October. The first event, set for October 23rd, will introduce MagicOS 9.0, Honor’s upcoming operating system based on Android 15. A teaser poster highlights an AI-focused theme for the new OS, with the tagline, “witness the magic of AI,” suggesting that artificial intelligence will play a prominent role in the update.
Here’s When Xiaomi 15 and Honor Magic 7 Will be Released
The more exciting news, however, is the confirmation that the Magic 7 series will launch on October 30th. This makes Honor the first company to officially announce a phone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. However, this doesn’t guarantee that Honor will be the first to release the phone, as other brands like Xiaomi may still beat them to market.
Qualcomm is scheduled to officially unveil the Snapdragon 8 Elite on October 21st, and recent reports suggest that several flagship devices will launch featuring the chip as early as October 28th. This leaves room for Xiaomi, OnePlus, or other competitors to potentially release their Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered smartphones first.
Expected Honor Magic 7 Series Specifications
Leaks suggest that the Magic 7 series will feature two models, the standard Magic 7 and the Magic 7 Pro. Both models are expected to share key similarities, including the same Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC.
Both phones will likely sport a triple camera setup on the rear. The main camera is rumored to be a 50MP Omnivision OV50H sensor, accompanied by a 50MP periscope telephoto lens, possibly the Sony IMX882, and a third sensor that may either be 50MP or an impressive 200MP (Samsung HP3). These powerful cameras will offer users a robust photography experience.
As for the displays, both models are expected to feature OLED screens, with the Pro version boasting a higher-resolution 2K display, while the standard Magic 7 will likely offer a 1.5K resolution. Additionally, the Magic 7 Pro is rumored to come with satellite connectivity support, adding extra utility for users in remote areas.
Other rumored features include IP68 water resistance, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, 2D face recognition, and Honor’s enhanced eye protection 3.0 for a better viewing experience.
AI Agent Integration
At this year’s IFA Berlin event, Honor confirmed that the Magic 7 series will debut with AI Agent, a personal AI assistant designed to adapt to user habits and environmental conditions. This AI-powered assistant will intelligently automate tasks across various apps and services.
