Prince Andrew Eyes Frogmore Cottage as a Permanent Home for Princess Eugenie
Prince Andrew is reportedly keen on securing Frogmore Cottage, formerly the residence of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, as a permanent home for his daughter, Princess Eugenie. The cottage has remained vacant since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were evicted by King Charles last summer.
According to sources, King Charles has suggested that his younger brother, the Duke of York, should consider moving into Frogmore Cottage, which has been empty for over a year. However, rather than relocating there himself, Prince Andrew is said to be working to make the property available for Princess Eugenie, her husband Jack Brooksbank, and their two young children, August, three, and Ernest, one.
A source shared with The Express: “Andrew won’t be moving into Frogmore, but he is still trying to secure it for his family. Eugenie has stayed there several times since Harry and Meghan moved to the US, even helping them pack up their belongings when they left. Now, she and her family want to turn it into their full-time home.”
Princess Eugenie currently divides her time between Ivy Cottage at Kensington Palace when in the UK and Portugal, where she spends a significant portion of the year. Despite this, she and Jack have a deep connection to Frogmore Cottage, where they have stayed frequently over the past few years.
The cottage underwent a £2.4 million renovation prior to Prince Harry and Meghan moving in, making it a desirable residence. With her growing family, Eugenie is seeking a larger home, and Frogmore Cottage seems like the ideal choice.
The insider added: “Eugenie and Jack love the UK, and they need more space as their family grows. Frogmore Cottage is perfect for them, and turning it into a permanent home makes sense. Andrew, knowing that his other daughter, Beatrice, is settled, wants to ensure Eugenie finds a place to call home, even though he has no plans to leave Royal Lodge himself.”
With high costs associated with maintaining his current residence at Royal Lodge, this move could help ease financial burdens while securing a suitable home for Princess Eugenie and her family.
