PCB Announces Pakistan’s Playing XI for 1st Test Against Bangladesh
Rawalpindi – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced the playing XI for the first Test against Bangladesh, set to begin on August 21 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Captain Shan Masood will lead the Pakistani team, with a strong lineup featuring key players:
- Batting Lineup: Babar Azam, Saud Shakeel, Abdullah Shafique, and Shan Masood.
- Wicketkeeper-Batsman: Muhammad Rizwan.
- All-Rounder: Salman Ali Agha, who will also serve as the sole spinner in the team.
- Fast Bowling Attack: Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Ali, and Khurram Shahzad.
Jason Gillespie will be making his debut as the head coach for Pakistan in this Test series.
Squad Changes
All-rounder Aamer Jamal has been released from the squad due to an ongoing back injury sustained while playing for Warwickshire in county cricket. Despite being included in the squad subject to fitness clearance, Jamal has not yet recovered fully and has been advised to focus on his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.
PCB’s Statement: “Right-arm fast bowler Aamir Jamal has been released from the Test squad ahead of the series against Bangladesh. Aamir, who was earlier included in the squad subject to fitness clearance, has been advised to work on his fitness at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. Aamir is recovering from a back injury which he sustained while playing county cricket this year.”
