OnePlus Open 2 and Oppo Find N5 to Join the Slim Foldable Hype

Folding smartphones are progressively adopting slimmer designs with each generation, a trend notably advanced by Honor’s Magic V series. In line with this movement, OnePlus and Oppo are set to launch their own foldable devices next year, featuring larger and sleeker designs.

According to the renowned Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, the OnePlus Open 2 is expected to measure just 10mm when unfolded, marking a significant reduction in thickness compared to previous models. This device will likely serve as a rebranded version of the Oppo Find N5, aiming to make its mark in the international market, unlike its Oppo counterpart.

The tipster further suggests that the OnePlus Open 2 will feature a large circular main camera, although its exact design remains unconfirmed. This camera module is anticipated to include a triple shooter setup in collaboration with Hasselblad, boasting a 50MP main camera, a 50MP 3x periscope zoom lens, and a 50MP ultrawide sensor.

In terms of battery capacity, the OnePlus Open 2 is set for an upgrade to 5,700 mAh, compared to 4,805 mAh in its predecessor. Additionally, it will introduce wireless charging support for the first time, raising hopes that this enhancement won’t lead to a price increase.

Under the hood, the device is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, maintaining the flagship performance seen in the last model. Industry sources indicate a launch window between January and March of next year, which may align with the release of the Find N5. The Find N5 is anticipated to debut in China before making its global debut as the OnePlus Open 2.
