Fakhar Zaman Reportedly Requests Two-Month Break from International Cricket
Sources indicate that Pakistan’s explosive opener, Fakhar Zaman, is likely to miss the upcoming ODI series against Australia after requesting a two-month break from international cricket. Reports suggest that Fakhar is not fully fit and seeks this time off to rehabilitate from his injury and return stronger ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025, set to begin in February.
Fakhar reportedly made his request via email to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), expressing his desire to regain full fitness in anticipation of a busy white-ball schedule.

Recently, Fakhar has faced scrutiny for various reasons. He previously shared his concerns with PCB officials, highlighting the difficulties players face due to issues such as the non-issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for franchise leagues.
After reports of his candid discussions with the PCB, speculation arose that Fakhar might be considered for the new white-ball captaincy following Babar Azam’s resignation. However, these rumors were swiftly dismissed when Fakhar received a Show Cause Notice from the PCB for his tweets supporting Babar Azam, who had been dropped from the Test squad during the Pakistan-England series. Fakhar argued that Babar deserved more opportunities, considering his significant contributions to the Pakistan batting lineup in recent years.

In response to the Show Cause Notice, Fakhar stated his respect for the institution but maintained that his tweets were motivated by his belief that it was an unwise decision to drop Babar.
While rumors of his exclusion from the ODI squad have circulated, it is clear that the dynamic opener is prioritizing his fitness and aims to be at his best when he rejoins the white-ball team. Pakistan’s tour of Australia, featuring three ODIs and three T20Is, is scheduled to kick off on November 4, just under a week after the conclusion of the Test series against England.
