FIFA Club World Cup 2025: Messi’s Inter Miami Clinches Final Spot as Host Nation

Inter Miami, the Major League Soccer (MLS) team co-owned by David Beckham, has confirmed its participation in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, securing a spot alongside global superstars Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez. The club earned its place by clinching the Supporters’ Shield, awarded to the team with the best regular-season record in MLS.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino congratulated Inter Miami, stating, “You have shown that you are consistently the best club on the field of play in the United States.”

The tournament is set to take place in the United States from June 15 to July 3, 2025, featuring 32 teams, including 12 from Europe, six from South America, and representatives from Asia, Africa, and North America. The remaining spot in the tournament will be determined by the Copa Libertadores, with AtlĂ©tico-MG, Botafogo, or Peñarol in contention for the title. If River Plate wins, Paraguay’s Olimpia will secure the final position based on Conmebol rankings.

Matches will be held across eight venues in the U.S., including Inter Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium, with the final taking place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Despite some criticism of FIFA’s decision to expand the tournament, the upcoming edition promises to showcase top clubs from around the world.

The full draw for the Club World Cup will be announced in December.
