New Zealand Humiliates India to a Record Low Test Total at Home
In a shocking display, New Zealand dismantled India in the first Test match, bowling out the hosts for their third-lowest total in Test cricket history.
After winning the toss and opting to bat on a bowler-friendly surface, India’s batting lineup crumbled under pressure. Matt Henry and William O’Rourke led the charge, quickly reducing India to 3/10 before leaving them reeling at 34 for six by the end of the first session.
The situation worsened as India lost their remaining four wickets within the first 30 minutes of the second session, finishing their innings with a dismal total of just 46 runs. This marks the first time in history that India has been bowled out for fewer than 50 runs at home.
Five Indian batters, including Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, and R Ashwin, were dismissed for ducks, while only Yashasvi Jaiswal (13) and Rishabh Pant (20) managed to reach double figures.
