Vivo’s Latest Flagship X Series Has Arrived Along With a Mini Model
Vivo has officially launched its flagship X200 series in China, which includes the vanilla X200, X200 Pro, and the X200 Pro Mini. While the Pro models typically garner more attention, the standard X200 retains many impressive specifications from its siblings.
Design and Display
The X200 features a stunning 6.67-inch quad-curved display, mirroring its larger Pro counterpart. This display is enhanced with Zeiss Natural Color technology, ensuring superior color accuracy. The 10-bit LTPS panel supports HDR10+ and employs high-frequency PWM dimming to eliminate flicker, achieving an impressive peak brightness of 4,500 nits.
Notably, this display is designed to outlast typical OLED panels by three years while consuming less power. Additionally, the vanilla model includes an optical fingerprint reader and boasts an IP69 rating, an upgrade from the X100’s IP68.
Internals and Software
Powering the X200 is the cutting-edge Dimensity 9400 chipset, which has recently been making waves in performance benchmarks. This second-generation 3nm chip features an innovative all-big-core design, a collaboration between Vivo, ARM, and MediaTek.
At its core, the Dimensity 9400 includes a prime Cortex-X925 core clocked at a remarkable 3.626 GHz. The device can be equipped with up to 16 GB of RAM, which can effectively be doubled using virtual RAM technology. Storage options range from 256 GB to 1 TB, further expandable via Vivo’s proprietary storage compression technology.
The X200 runs on Funtouch OS 5 atop Android 14 for Chinese users, while international variants are expected to feature Funtouch OS. New features in Origin OS 5 include Vivo’s version of Circle to Search and an Apple Dynamic Island-like feature called Origin Island. However, it’s unclear if or when these features will be available on Funtouch OS.
Cameras
The X200 boasts an impressive camera system led by a 50MP Sony IMX921 sensor. Although this 1/1.56″ sensor is smaller than the LYT-818 found in the Pro models, it matches the sensor used in the X100. The main camera comes with a Zeiss lens that has a wide f/1.57 aperture and T* coating.
Additionally, the camera system features a 70mm telephoto lens with a f/2.57 aperture paired with a 50MP IMX882 sensor. While it lacks the 200MP resolution of its Pro counterparts, it still offers excellent zoom capabilities. Completing the setup is a 50MP ultra-wide camera with a 15mm focal length.
For selfies, the X200 is equipped with a 32MP ultrawide unit that can record 4K video at 60 FPS.
Battery and Pricing
The X200 is powered by a robust 5,800 mAh BlueVolt battery, a significant upgrade from the previous 800 mAh capacity of the X100. However, this larger battery capacity results in a slight reduction in charging speed, supporting 90W wired charging, down from the 120W of last year’s model. Nevertheless, 90W remains impressively fast.
Like the Pro models, the vanilla X200 is available in Sapphire Blue, Titanium Grey, Moonlight White, and Carbon Black, with a starting price of $605 in China.
