80 Pakistani Companies Participate in GITEX Global 2024 in Dubai

The Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) Chairman, Sajjad Mustafa Syed, announced that Pakistan has made a remarkable impact at GITEX Global 2024 in Dubai, showcasing itself as the Tech Destination of the Year. This achievement was highlighted through the grand inauguration of the Pakistan Pavilion and the much-anticipated Pakistan Night, both hosted by P@SHA and the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB).

Syed emphasized that these events showcased Pakistan’s dynamic IT sector, elevating its status on the global stage. The inauguration ceremony featured prominent figures, including Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, the Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE; high-ranking officials from the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC); Muhammad Umair Nizam, Senior Vice Chairman of P@SHA; Raheel Iqbal, Vice Chairman of P@SHA; and CEOs of leading Pakistani IT companies.

He highlighted that being celebrated as Tech Destination of the Year on such a significant platform is a potential game-changer for Pakistan, paving the way for exponential growth in IT and ITeS exports. This growth, he noted, could be achieved through consistent trade, taxation, SME, IT industry, and Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA) related policies.

Muhammad Umair Nizam elaborated on the success of Pakistan Night, which brought together industry leaders, government officials, and tech innovators for exclusive networking opportunities. Attendees engaged in meaningful discussions about potential business partnerships, investments, joint ventures, and bilateral collaborations, thereby reinforcing the strong ties between Pakistan and the UAE in various tech sectors.

Haris Naseer, Treasurer of P@SHA, emphasized the association’s critical role in driving economic growth and human resource development. Dr. Sohail Munir discussed the substantive contributions of Pakistan’s IT industry to the digital transformation of the UAE.

Raheel Iqbal noted that 80 Pakistani companies participated in the event, representing diverse hi-tech sub-sectors and allied industries. This participation is strategic in nature, creating a tech ecosystem essential for the socioeconomic growth of any country.

Ali Zaib Khan, Trade & Investment Counselor at the Pakistan Embassy UAE, emphasized the importance of strengthening tech relations between Pakistan and the UAE. Zeeshan Rehman Khattak, Acting CEO of PSEB, provided an insightful overview of Pakistan’s flourishing IT industry, highlighting significant milestones.

Nadeem Malik, Secretary General of P@SHA, stressed that GITEX Global 2024 served as an exceptional platform for Pakistan, generating tangible contracts, MoUs, and B2B linkages.

The event concluded with closing remarks by Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, reaffirming the significance of bilateral cooperation in emerging technologies between Pakistan and the UAE through various B2B and government-to-government (G2G) partnerships and trade relations.
