During a discussion with former cricketer Rashid Latif, Dr. Niaz alleged that Malik is collaborating with fellow ex-player Wahab Riaz to replace the current Director of International Cricket, Usman Wahla. This speculation arises amid reports of a recent conflict between Riaz and Wahla regarding the denial of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to spinner Usama Mir. Riaz has publicly claimed that Mir made several attempts to contact Wahla about the NOC, but to no avail. While Wahla denied these allegations, Riaz asserted that he possesses evidence to back up his claims.

Internally, there is reported dissatisfaction with Wahla’s performance in his current role, contributing to the speculation surrounding his potential replacement. Shoaib Malik, who has been serving as a mentor for the Stallions in the Champions Cup, has stayed closely connected to the PCB’s inner workings during this time.
