PCB Refutes Claims of Venue Change for 2025 Champions Trophy

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has strongly denied claims made by a British newspaper regarding the potential relocation of the final of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy from Lahore to Dubai, dependent on India’s qualification for the tournament.

The PCB has reiterated its commitment to hosting all matches, including the final, on Pakistani soil. Despite the ongoing political tensions between India and Pakistan, the board remains determined to ensure a successful and seamless tournament.

“There is absolutely no truth to the reports suggesting that the Champions Trophy final could be moved outside Pakistan. We are working diligently to ensure that all preparations for the tournament are on track, and we are confident that Pakistan will be able to host a memorable event,” stated a PCB spokesperson.

To accommodate the expected influx of fans and international players, the PCB has initiated substantial upgrades to stadiums across the country. These renovations are part of a broader initiative to enhance Pakistan’s cricket infrastructure and position the nation as a leading cricketing destination.

The 2025 Champions Trophy is set to take place from February 19 to March 9, with a reserve day on March 10. Pakistan is placed in Group A alongside formidable teams such as India, Bangladesh, and New Zealand, while Group B features England, South Africa, Australia, and Afghanistan. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is currently awaiting discussions with the Indian government to finalize its participation in matches held in Pakistan
