Pak Rupee Starts New Week With Small Losses Against US Dollar
The Pakistani rupee (PKR) began the new week with minor losses against the US Dollar (USD), opening trade at 278 in the interbank market. Although it remained stable throughout the day, it ultimately closed lower against the greenback. The rupee also experienced declines against several other major currencies during the trading session.
The interbank rate maintained a steady level at 278/$ for most of the day before closing at that same figure. Open market rates exhibited volatility but generally remained within the range of 279-280.
Today, the PKR depreciated by 0.01 percent, closing at 277.66 after a loss of two paisas against the US Dollar.
On a fiscal year-to-date basis, the rupee has appreciated by 0.24 percent thus far.
In the interbank market, the PKR closed lower against the UAE Dirham (AED) and the Saudi Riyal (SAR), both of which held steady at Friday’s rates despite the slight decline. However, it gained 26 paisas against the British Pound (GBP) and 27 paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD).
Additionally, the rupee appreciated by 16 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD) and 47 paisas against the Euro (EUR) in today’s trading session.
