Samsung Galaxy S25 FE to Feature a MediaTek Chip for the First Time Ever
Samsung’s chipset choices for the upcoming Galaxy S25 series have been a hot topic of discussion lately, with rumors swirling in various directions. Initially, there was speculation that Samsung might skip the Exynos 2500 entirely for the S25 lineup due to poor production yields and instead rely solely on Snapdragon chips.
However, the recent announcement of the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 has added another layer of speculation to the mix.
Rumors Surrounding the Galaxy S25 Series
This rumor emerged on X (formerly Twitter) from tipster Jukanlosreve, who claimed that only the Galaxy S25 FE will be equipped with the Dimensity chip. In contrast, the standard S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra models are expected to stick with Snapdragon processors, likely the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. If true, this would mark the first time Samsung has used a MediaTek chip in a high-profile smartphone.

While the tipster mentions that Samsung and MediaTek have discussed the possibility of using a Dimensity chip across the entire S25 lineup, these talks reportedly did not yield any results.
The Galaxy S25 FE may receive the Dimensity 9400, which is MediaTek’s latest flagship chip, or Samsung might opt for a less expensive, older Dimensity model if cost-saving measures are necessary for the FE variant.
The Future of Exynos
Meanwhile, the Exynos 2500 is not entirely out of the picture. If Samsung can resolve its production issues, there is a good chance we will see the Exynos 2500 in next year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, expected to launch in the summer. By then, the Exynos 2500 could be ready for release, potentially reintroducing Samsung’s in-house chips to their flagship lineup
