Rupee Halts 4-Day Losing Streak Against US Dollar to End Big Week
The Pakistani rupee (PKR) posted modest gains to conclude a significant week against the US Dollar (USD) after starting trade at 278 in the interbank market.
The PKR remained stable throughout the day and ended in green against the greenback, although it registered losses against some other major currencies during today’s session.
The interbank rate hovered around 278/$ for most of the day before closing at the same level. Open market rates across various currency counters were consistently between 277-278 today.
The PKR appreciated by 0.05 percent, closing at 277.63 after gaining 15 paisas against the US Dollar today.

On a fiscal year-to-date basis, the rupee has appreciated by 0.25 percent so far.
However, the PKR experienced mixed performance against other major currencies in the interbank market today.
- It gained four paisas against the UAE Dirham (AED) and five paisas against the Saudi Riyal (SAR).
- The rupee also appreciated by 17 paisas against the British Pound (GBP) and 53 paisas against the Canadian Dollar (CAD).
- Conversely, it lost 25 paisas against the Euro (EUR) and 37 paisas against the Australian Dollar (AUD) in today’s interbank currency market.
