Nvidia GeForce RTX 5000 Series is Coming at CES 2025 in January
Nvidia is preparing to unveil its next generation of RTX GPUs at CES 2025, scheduled for January 7-10. The event will be hosted by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, featuring the new “Blackwell” RTX 5000 series of graphics cards, designed to showcase cutting-edge technologies for PC gamers. The initial lineup will include the RTX 5090 with 32 GB, RTX 5080 with 16 GB, and RTX 5070 with 12 GB of VRAM.
This upcoming launch continues a tradition of Nvidia GPU announcements at CES, following the unveiling of the RTX 40 Super lineup in 2024, the RTX 4070 Ti in 2023, the powerful RTX 4090 Ti in 2022, and the RTX 3060 in 2021.
Rumored Specifications
As anticipated, the RTX 5090 32 GB will be the flagship model, featuring the PG144/145-SKU30 PCB design with the GB202-300-A1 GPU core. This top-tier card will come equipped with 32 GB of GDDR7 VRAM operating on a 512-bit interface. It will incorporate new memory compression techniques and a fresh L3 cache. The card is expected to have a 600W Total Board Power (TBP) rating, although this does not directly reflect power consumption during gaming or other workloads.
Nvidia aims to enhance the PCB back-drilling process to improve signal integrity between the GPU and the GDDR7 VRAM. Recent reports suggest that these new cards will utilize a 14-layer PCB design.
Regarding power delivery, Nvidia will maintain consistency across the RTX 50 series. Most cards will continue using a single 12V-2×6 power connector interface. However, select high-end models, particularly variants of the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, are expected to feature a dual 16-pin connector configuration.
All models in the lineup will be fully compatible with PCIe 5.0 and support DisplayPort 2.1a, providing an impressive 80 Gbps bandwidth for exceptional display capabilities.
