PSX Closes Flat After Volatile Session
The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) 100-Index experienced a marginal increase of 5.30 points on Wednesday, closing at 85,669.28 points.
Topline Securities, a prominent brokerage house, reported significant volatility throughout the session. The index peaked at 86,451 and dipped to 85,444 due to profit-taking and its inability to sustain levels above 86,000. The market saw support primarily from local institutions’ buying activity.
A total of 596,052,076 shares were traded, compared to 506,565,368 shares on the previous trading day. The total value of shares traded was Rs. 31.341 billion, down from Rs. 33.049 billion on the last trading day.
Out of 448 companies that traded their shares, 208 recorded gains, 172 sustained losses, and the share prices of 68 companies remained unchanged.
The top three trading companies were K-Electric Limited with 55,799,760 shares at Rs. 3.98 per share, Hub Power Company with 39,666,232 shares at Rs. 113.42 per share, and PTCL with 32,226,119 shares at Rs. 13.20 per share.
Lucky Core Industries Limited saw the maximum increase in share price, rising by Rs. 114.32 to close at Rs. 1,257.56. Hallmark Company Limited followed with a Rs. 102.50 increase, closing at Rs. 1,348.03.
On the downside, Nestle Pakistan Limited experienced the greatest decrease in share price, falling by Rs. 75.24 to close at Rs. 6,790.00. Hoechst Pakistan Limited followed with a Rs. 54.13 decline, ending the day at Rs. 2,335.87.
