Sophie Turner Advises Against Child Stardom Wait Until 25
Sophie Turner is advocating for caution among parents considering the entertainment industry for their children. Having entered the spotlight at just 13 years old through her role in Game of Thrones, the actress shared her insights in a recent interview with The Times.
Now at 28, Turner emphasized the importance of waiting for children to mature before embarking on a career in show business. “I would tell any parent, if your child is interested in this industry, hold off until their frontal lobe has fully developed, which is around 25… I strongly advise against them entering before they can truly understand what that entails.”
Turner, a mother of two, has been candid about her own struggles with depression and an eating disorder. She also reflected on the challenges she faced throughout her career, including her recent divorce from Joe Jonas after four years of marriage.
She expressed gratitude for her Game of Thrones co-star Maisie Williams, who portrayed Arya Stark, saying, “Without her, I don’t know where I’d be,” and humorously adding, “Probably in a crack den somewhere.”
Now taking on the role of a glamorous diamond thief in the upcoming series Joan, Turner revealed that she tends to be her own toughest critic. “I’m hyper-critical of my performance… I always think, ‘I could have done that better.’”
Nonetheless, she relished the opportunity to embrace the glamour of her new character, noting that the exciting costumes and styling provided a refreshing change from her previous projects.
