Influencer Investigated for Illegally Feeding Crocodile in Australia
Jaylie Bonow, an Australian social media influencer and OnlyFans model, has come under investigation after a viral video surfaced showing her illegally feeding a saltwater crocodile in Far North Queensland. Also known as Jaylie Tori, she faces a significant fine for her actions, which have sparked concern among wildlife authorities.
The controversial video, now deleted, captured Jaylie feeding a cooked chicken to the crocodile along the banks of the Russell River, an activity that is prohibited in Australia. The Department of Environment, Science, and Innovation (DESI) is looking into the matter as part of their efforts to curb illegal feeding of wildlife, especially crocodiles.
Authorities have been strictly enforcing regulations against feeding crocodiles due to the dangerous behaviors it encourages. When fed by humans, crocodiles can become more aggressive and lose their natural fear of people, which heightens the risk to public safety.
In response to the backlash, Jaylie posted a new video in which she expressed remorse for her actions. “Yesterday, I thought it would be a good idea to feed a saltwater crocodile,” she admitted, acknowledging her mistake and adding, “I didn’t realize it was illegal, but now I understand how it can endanger both the animals and the public.”
Jaylie, who faces a fine of $2,580, emphasized that her actions were a “silly mistake” and hopes her apology serves as a lesson for others. She further highlighted the importance of raising awareness about the risks associated with feeding wildlife, particularly in Australia, where the balance of safety and conservation is crucial.
Her case serves as a reminder of the potential consequences of interactions with dangerous wildlife and the importance of respecting local laws aimed at protecting both people and animals.
